I did not set out to make larger washcloths. At first, I followed traditional sizes used in most knit washcloth patterns. However, those sizes did not work well in our home.

My husband asked for a washcloth that felt more useful. Since he is tall, the standard size felt too small and harder to use. So, I decided to make something larger and more practical.

Instead of making a small adjustment, I created a full 16×16 knit washcloth. I noticed the difference right away. The larger size feels easier to hold and more comfortable to use each day.

This small change turned into something more meaningful. A larger washcloth not only improves comfort, but it also makes everyday routines feel smoother and more efficient.

At the same time, I kept the pattern simple. I wanted a design that feels calm to knit and practical to use. Rather than adding complexity, I focused on texture and structure that repeats easily.

Because of this, the pattern works well for beginners and experienced knitters. It allows you to create something useful without feeling overwhelmed by complicated steps.

As I continued knitting, I realized this approach fits how I want to create. I do not want to make pieces that sit unused. I want to create items that people can use often and enjoy daily.

Larger washcloths have now become a key part of my knitting projects. They are simple, yet they serve a clear purpose. They also allow me to explore textured knitting patterns in a way that feels manageable.
